The opportunity
An opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated Mental Health Clinician to join a multidisciplinary team providing high-quality, evidence-based mental health care to individuals, families and the community.
The role involves delivering counselling and therapeutic support, undertaking psychological assessments, and developing and implementing recovery and treatment plans. The clinician will also provide clinical advice, participate in program development, and contribute to continuous improvement of mental health services.
The Roles
The positions will sit within the RivMed Mental Health Team
Mental Health Clinicians will provide trauma informed therapeutic care to children, young people, adults, families and carers. As a therapeutic specialist, your role will be to assess, develop and monitor treatment plans, equip staff through training and reflective practice sessions and collect data on outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
As our Mental Health Clinician, you will:

Provide counselling and therapeutic support to individuals and families

Conduct psychological assessments and develop evidence-based interventions

Design and implement treatment and recovery plans that promote healing and resilience

Work collaboratively with families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams

Contribute to the development and delivery of RivMed’s mental health programs

Offer clinical advice, debriefing, and peer support to staff

Participate in community engagement and promote holistic wellbeing

Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation (RivMed) is a long-established Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation in the heart of Wiradjuri Country.
RivMed work to effect change in the most marginalized and vulnerable people in our community. We work to achieve this through the provision of culturally appropriate medical and well-being services for Aboriginal people and their families.
Selection criteria
This is not an Aboriginal identified role however Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Qualifications as a Social Worker, Psychologist, Counsellor or Registered Nurse
- Demonstrated advanced practice skills and an ability to use evidence based psychometric assessment tools, including the capacity to provide psycho-educational and therapeutic group programs to adults, children and family groups.
- Ability to develop and implement treatment and recovery plans for individuals, groups and families as required.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and computer proficiency, including the ability to use the client information management system (Communicare).
- Capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrate accountability and willingness to take direction and provide written reports.
- WWCC / Police Check and drivers licence (travel throughout the Riverina area - RivMed vehicles provided).
