The opportunity

We are seeking to develop a casual pool of Family Workers to join our Permanency Support Program (Out of Home Care Team) under the Casework Support Scheme (CSS).

In this vital role, you will:

  • Provide supervised contact, supervised transport, mentoring and respite support to children and young people aged 0–17 in or at risk of entering out-of-home care.
  • Build positive, culturally safe relationships with children, families, and carers.
  • Ensure the safety, wellbeing and connection of children to family, culture, and community.
  • Maintain clear, objective records and reports of all engagements.
  • Work collaboratively with RivMed staff, government and community partners.

The successful applicants will work within a supportive and passionate team at Riverina Medical & Dental Aboriginal Corporation to deliver these services and to ensure the best culturally appropriate therapeutic outcomes for Aboriginal children, young people and their families.

Who we are

Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation (RivMed) is a long-established Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation in the heart of Wiradjuri Country. 

RivMed work to effect change in the most marginalised and vulnerable people in our community. We work to achieve this through the provision of culturally appropriate medical and well-being services for Aboriginal people and their families.

About You:

This is not an Aboriginal identified role however Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

  1. Minimum Certificate III in Community Services or at least three years working experience in the Community Services field.
  2. Commitment to the safety of children and young people
  3. Awareness of issues pertaining to child protection and statutory child protection system.
  4. Understanding of child development
  5. Excellent observational skills
  6. Proven ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) and/or Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) organizations and communities
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including report writing skills
  8. Current First Aid Certificate.
