The opportunity

RivMed is seeking a Post Custodial Support (PCS) Worker (Drug & Alcohol) to join our team.

The Aboriginal PCS Drug & Alcohol worker will be responsible for the implementation of Post Custodial Support Services to those that require support and intervention in response to Drug and Alcohol concerns. The aim is to improve health outcomes, wellbeing and the provision of care to those in custody, and after their release into the community. The PCS Drug and Alcohol worker will need to have a comprehensive understanding of holistic wellbeing, and the components of health that impact those with drug and alcohol concerns.

The successful applicant will work alongside a team of Drug and Alcohol workers and will work collaboratively with other internal programs and teams to achieve holistic, wrap around support for clients.

Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation (RivMed) is a long-established Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation in the heart of Wiradjuri Country. 

RivMed works to effect change in the most marginalised and vulnerable people in our community. We work to achieve this through the provision of culturally appropriate medical and well-being services for Aboriginal people and their families.

Selection criteria - This is not an Identified role however, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants are encouraged to apply.

  1. Cert IV in A&OD/Mental Health or equivalent, or willing to obtain the necessary qualifications (Cert IV in Community Services (Alcohol & Other Drugs)
  2. Willing to undertake training which may involve travel to Sydney & elsewhere
  3. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  4. A genuine interest in the delivery of programs and services to the Aboriginal communities
  5. Good written, oral & computer based communication skills including report writing and client record/note keeping
  6. Good organisational skills, including the ability to work unsupervised and to timeframes
  7. High level of interpersonal skills
  8. Current NSW drivers’ licence and willingness to travel for work
