The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an Aboriginal Health Worker or someone working towards a similar qualification to join our team as a Research Support Officer.  This is a part time (4 days per week) maternity leave position with a focus on women's health.  The main focus of this position will be to provide support, both administrative and practical, to our Aboriginal breast feeding research program.

The Aboriginal Health Research Support Officer will be required to ensure (under direction) all aspects of our Aboriginal health research programs, carried out at RivMed, are managed and run in a smooth and efficient manner. It is expected that the initial maternity relief contract period will be for a period of 6 months.

Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation (RivMed) is a long-established Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation in the heart of Wiradjuri Country. 

RivMed works to effect change in the most marginalised and vulnerable people in our community. We work to achieve this through the provision of culturally appropriate medical and well-being services for Aboriginal people and their families.

Selection criteria

  1. Aboriginality - This is an identified Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander position 
  2. Qualifications as an Aboriginal Health Worker or working towards the qualification or similar
  3. Ability to work with local Aboriginal communities and the broader community
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  5. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships
  6. Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to work unsupervised and to timeframes
  7. Ability to work as part of a team
  8. A genuine interest in the delivery of programs and services to the Aboriginal communities
  9. A current drivers licence with the ability and willingness to travel throughout the Murrumbidgee area. (RivMed vehicles provided)
