The Opportunity 

Are you an experienced leader passionate about strengthening Aboriginal families and keeping children safely connected to culture, family and community?

RivMed is seeking an exceptional Manager Casework to provide operational leadership and practice oversight of our Aboriginal Family Preservation Program. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team delivering culturally safe, family-led services that create lasting positive outcomes for Aboriginal children, young people and families across the Murrumbidgee region.

This full-time position is offered on a five-year maximum-term contract, providing the opportunity to establish and lead a significant new program that will have a lasting impact on Aboriginal children, families and communities across the region. This position may be based in Wagga Wagga, Albury, Griffith or Young. Relocation assistance may be considered for the successful candidate.

Reporting to the Manager FFT & Preservation Services, you will oversee Service Coordinators and support a high-performing workforce committed to preventing children entering out-of-home care through evidence-informed, strengths-based practice.

About the Role

As the Manager Casework, you will provide strategic operational leadership to ensure high-quality, culturally responsive services are delivered across the program. You will champion best practice, support workforce capability, oversee program performance, and build strong partnerships with Aboriginal communities and key stakeholders.

This role offers the opportunity to influence practice, mentor leaders, improve service quality and make a genuine difference in the lives of Aboriginal families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Aboriginal Family Preservation Program across the Murrumbidgee region.
  • Provide leadership, supervision and support to Service Coordinators and Family Caseworkers, building a high-performing and culturally capable workforce.
  • Ensure high-quality casework practice through coaching, governance, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee referrals, intake, caseload allocation, service capacity and risk management.
  • Provide leadership in complex child protection matters, mandatory reporting and critical incidents.
  • Monitor program performance, compliance, contractual obligations and reporting requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with the Department of Communities and Justice, Aboriginal communities and partner agencies.
  • Promote culturally safe, trauma-informed and family-led practice across all service delivery.
  • Foster a positive, accountable and collaborative team culture aligned with RivMed's values.

Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation (RivMed) is a long-established Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation in the heart of Wiradjuri Country.

About You (Selection Criteria)

RivMed strongly encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

  • Preferred qualification, Batchelor of Social Work or equivalent. Minimum qualification Diploma of Community Services; or related field and equivalent relevant skills and experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading child, family or community service programs.
  • Extensive knowledge of child protection, family preservation and case management practice.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and staff development skills.
  • Experience managing compliance, quality assurance and contractual reporting requirements.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • A commitment to culturally safe practice and working collaboratively with Aboriginal communities.
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Hold a current Driver Licence and be willing to travel throughout the Murrumbidgee region, work flexible hours to meet operational and family needs, and undertake occasional overnight travel.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain required clearances including Working with Children Check, National Police Check and evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status.
