The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Male and a Female, Indigenous, Social Emotional Wellbeing Worker to join our team.  

The role of the Social Emotional Wellbeing Worker is to ensure that the social health needs of clients and the community are met.  The program delivers a wide variety of support to children, young people, families and communities. 

The successful applicants will work within a supportive and passionate team at Riverina Medical & Dental Aboriginal Corporation to deliver services and to ensure the best culturally appropriate outcomes for clients.

These roles would ideally suit Aboriginal Health Workers / Practitioners, social workers or someone with knowledge of Social Emotional Wellbeing programs.

Who we are

Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation (RivMed) is a long-established Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation in the heart of Wiradjuri Country. 

RivMed work to effect change in the most marginalised and vulnerable people in our community. We work to achieve this through the provision of culturally appropriate medical and well-being services for Aboriginal people and their families.

Selection criteria

  • Aboriginality - This is an identified Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander position and candidates will be required to provide confirmation of Aboriginality acceptable to RivMed with their application. (NB: race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW).
  • Aboriginal Health Worker / Practitioner, Certificate III or IV in Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Youth Work, Community Services, or other relevant qualification; or equivalent relevant skills and experience
  • Ability to work with local Aboriginal communities and the broader community.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills, including competent computer skills.

Applicants should have the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrate accountability and willingness to take direction and provide written reports.

Applicants must also hold a current drivers licence with an ability and willingness to travel throughout the Murrumbidgee area. (RivMed vehicles provided)
